Is Your Marketing Communicating Value Clearly?

Patients don’t always choose the lowest price. Often, they choose the practice that gives them the most confidence.

Use these 5 questions to see whether your marketing is showing enough value before price becomes the focus.

1

Does your marketing explain what makes the experience different?

If a patient only sees services and prices, there’s very little to compare beyond cost. Check whether your website clearly shows:

What the patient experience is like
How you approach treatment
What makes your practice different
What patients can expect when they choose you
Ask yourself

Could a new patient explain why they should choose your practice without mentioning price?

2

Are you showing value or just claiming it?

These phrases sound good, but almost every practice says them:

“High-quality care” “State-of-the-art dentistry” “Exceptional service”

Instead, look for proof. Do you show:

Real before-and-after cases
Videos of the doctor explaining procedures
Patient stories or testimonials
Specific technology or materials you use
The lab you work with
Any guarantees or warranties you offer
Ask yourself

Are patients seeing evidence of your value on your website, or are they just being told you’re good?

3

Are you answering the fears behind the price question?

When patients ask about cost, they may really be wondering:

Will this hurt?
Will it last?
Will I need it redone?
Can I trust this dentist?
Is this worth the investment?

Your marketing should help answer those questions before they have to ask.

Ask yourself

Does your website reduce uncertainty or does it leave patients with more questions?

4

Are you making it easier to say yes without discounting?

You don’t always need to lower your fee to make treatment feel more accessible. Check whether you clearly communicate:

Financing options
Membership plans
Payment options
Clear treatment plans
What is included in the treatment
Ask yourself

Are your website and front desk making it easier for patients to say yes or are they only seeing the price?

5

Is your front desk communicating the same value?

Your marketing doesn’t stop at your website. The phone conversation matters just as much. If someone asks “How much is a crown?”

Price-only answer

“It’s $X.”

Can end the conversation right there.

A better answer

“It usually ranges from X to Y depending on the tooth and material. Can I ask what’s going on with the tooth?”

Moves the conversation from price to the patient’s actual concern.

Ask yourself

Is your front desk trained to explain value or simply quote fees?

If you answered “No” or “Not sure” to several of these, patients may be reaching the price conversation before they understand why your practice is worth choosing.

The goal isn’t to avoid discussing price. It’s to make sure price isn’t the only thing they have to compare.
